Віспа мавп поширюється світом — які загрози можуть очікувати на людство?

Всесвітня організація охорони здоров’я оголосила віспу мавп «надзвичайною ситуацією в галузі громадської охорони здоров’я, яка має міжнародне значення», що відповідає найвищому рівню небезпеки. Mpox (віспа мавп) поширюється через тісний особистий контакт, часто це так зване «шкіра до шкіри». Хвороба може поширюватися через прямий контакт із висипаннями або рідинами організму інфікованої людини. З огляду на широке географічне поширення хвороби фактична кількість випадків не буде встановлена. Будь-хто може захворіти на Mpox, але на сьогодні більшість підтверджених випадків за межами ендемічних регіонів Африки виникли у чоловіків молодого або середнього віку, які мають секс із чоловіками та нещодавно мали сексуальні контакти з новими або кількома партнерами.
The World Health Organization has declared monkeypox a “public health emergency of international concern” corresponding to the highest level of danger. Monkeypox is spread through close personal contact, often skin-to-skin. The disease can spread through direct contact with the rashes or body fluids of an infected person. Given the wide geographic distribution of the disease, the actual number of cases will be unknown. Anyone can get monkeypox, but to date most confirmed cases outside of endemic areas in Africa have occurred in young or middle-aged men who have sex with men who have recently had sex with new or multiple partners.
